I grew up in Tyndall, SD graduating from Bon Homme High School in 2003 (how could I be at my 10 year class reunion already?). I spent my first semester of college at SDSU and then transferred to USD where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Contemporary Media and Journalism with a minor in Leadership Studies in 2007. YEAH!
I spent three years of my life being royal serving as a Czech Queen. I began as the Tabor Czech Days Queen (every year the third weekend in June – Tabor, SD) , moved on to be the South Dakota Czech-Slovak Queen, and finally spent my last of the three years as the Miss Czech-Slovak USA Queen 2004-2005. I gave up my reign in August of 2005 and have since had to adapt to life as a commoner.
I actually got my job here at WNAX because of my Queen-ship. I came into the station to do an interview with Jim Reimler about being the Tabor Czech Days Queen and to promote Czech Days. I told him about wanting to go into radio and before I left the building that morning, he had me filling out an application. I started in August of 2004, so I really am the baby of the group.
I live on a farm with my husband Jon and daughter Maggie – and I work on that farm every now and again!
